This trundle expands the functionality and spices up the design of a spare, slim guestroom/office. The desk seems as though it would be more useful for storing nighttime reading than for doing actual work — you'd have to sit cross-legged to type or write.

Trundles don't always have to be concealed beneath a bedskirt or behind a drawer front. In this cheery, eclectic bedroom, the bright green of the bed frame is carried to the trundle box beneath, left on display for another jolt of color.

Here's another trundle right in the open. I like seeing the tiny hint of royal blue to break up all of the wood.

What makes better use of space than bunk beds? Bunk beds with a pullout mattress underneath. This technique works especially well in vacation houses or for families who have relatives and friends visit frequently.

Trundles beneath these twin beds double the room's sleeping capacity from two to four — a pretty nifty trick. Alternatively, you could use the trundles for storage.

Sleek and elegant, this trundle blends so smoothly with the striated wood frame of the daybed that the handles are the only giveaway it's there at all.

A trundle on rails pulls out and slides in smoothly, and it's guaranteed to stay in place. What a great idea!

Rough Linen Doesn't the 'top' person step on you when they get up in the night?

Mercy Me Enjoyed the ideabook and pix.
I am crazy about trundle beds; never had one growing up. I waited 55+ years to get one! It is a gorgeous mahogany French sleigh-bed style with a pop-up trundle that fits nicely underneath. It's in our one and only guest room, but mostly my hubs uses it for his daily power nap.

So much better than those dated day beds from back in the day; you know, the kind with the ugly wedge bolsters.

Casart Coverings Thanks, Lisa, for including our teen's room in your ideabook. She was looking for a more grown-up look and her mom was looking for an economical way to accomplish that. Drapes, a throw pillow and an addition of an unexpected color and subject to those pink walls did the trick. Because the artichoke is removable and can be reused, it can easily be replaced.

Debbie Love the trundle beds, except for the bright green one--w/spindles....

julietjones To Tricia Rose: No, because the lower bed raises up (usually) to the same height as the upper bed, and you can pull them apart leaving as much space as you like in between, just like two single (twin) beds.

mcd53 Oh, I even loved the bright green one!

sowmya_padki Tricia rose in reply to ur question doesn't the top person step on the bottom person if they wake up at night, I think what trundles beds do are - the mattress on the top bed slides over onto the bottom bed so that they are equal and look just like a king bed. Get it?
